The White House has joined popular video sharing app Snapchat.

According to a news release, the move is an attempt to connect with younger Americans. The White House said the app boasts more than 100 million daily users and that 60 percent of those aged 13-34 use it.

“In light of the number of Americans who use the service to consume news and share with their friends, the White House is joining Snapchat to engage this broad cross-section of the population in new and creative ways,” according to the release.

One of the first offerings the “WhiteHouse” Snapchat account will be “behind the scenes” glimpses of President Obama preparing for Tuesday’s State of the Union speech.
