Musharraf Makes Court Appearance in Pakistan

A black car carrying former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf arrives at the Special Court formed to try him for treason in Islamabad, Feb. 18, 2014.

Former Pakistani president Pervez Musharraf has appeared in court to face treason charges, after repeated no-shows over the past few months.

Musharraf appeared in court under heavy security Tuesday after a stay in the hospital last month for chest pains. In December, he missed court appearances because his representatives said they found explosives planted on his route from home to court.

The former president is facing charges over his decision to suspend the constitution and impose a state of emergency in 2007 while he was president. Musharraf has claimed the charges are politically motivated.

The former president has been under fire since returning to Pakistan from self-imposed exile last March.
