9 Killed in Peshawar Attack

Pakistani officials say nine people have been killed on the outskirts of Peshawar after attackers hurled hand grenades into the home of a Pakistani police officer.

Officials said there was no claim of responsibility for Wednesday's attack. They said at least a dozen men targeted the house of a police officer who was killed in a shootout last Sunday.

The attack follows one on Tuesday in which at least 11 people were killed after assailants threw grenades into a crowded Peshawar movie theater.

At least 20 others were wounded.

The incidents take place as the Pakistani government conducts peace talks with members of the Taliban, in hopes of ending nearly a decade of insurgency in Pakistan's northwest.
