FILE - U.S. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi speaks to reporters, Dec. 2012.

U.S. House of Representatives Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi "is now leaning toward" appointing Democratic members to a special panel investigating the 2012 attack on a U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya, a senior Democratic aide said on Wednesday.

The aide stressed to Reuters that no decision had yet been made. Negotiations between Pelosi and House Speaker John Boehner on the operation of the special congressional panel also was still under discussion, the aide said.
