The United Nations says Israeli, Palestinian and U.N. officials have agreed on a deal that will facilitate the rebuilding of homes in the Gaza Strip.
The U.N. special coordinator for the Middle East, Robert Serry, said on Friday that some 25,000 homeowners in Gaza will be able to access materials to repair their damaged houses.
U.N. spokesperson, Stephane Dujarric said the Palestinian Government of National Consensus will make a separate announcement on the process to access building materials.
Serry said the United Nations will try to help the Palestinian Government of National Consensus rebuild Gaza by providing financial support to homeowners. But he cautioned that existing resources are insufficient.
Israel and the militant group Hamas have fought several wars in Gaza in recent years that have damaged homes and infrastructure in the coastal enclave.
