US Initiative Enlists International Students for Online Anti-extremism Campaign

A group of Pakistani college students’ social media project has been selected as this year’s winner of a U.S. initiative to develop online campaigns against violent extremism. Teammates from Lahore University launched a website to raise awareness and action against extremism through social media, music and other events. They won the “Peer to Peer” competition, in which 45 university teams from 17 countries participated this year. Each team received $2,000 to produce a real campaign.
