Q&A Williams & Crothall / China Fire / In China, officials say the death toll from a fire at a poultry plant in the northeastern part of the country has reached at least 112. Firefighters in Jilin province told the official Xinhua news agency that the fire broke out at around 6 am today at a slaughterhouse in Mishazi Township of Dehui City and took about six hours to bring under control. At least 54 people were hospitalized with injuries. Geoffrey Crothall is the communications director at the China Labor Bulletin, a non-government organization which promotes worker's rights in China. Speaking from Hong Kong, he tells VOA’s Sarah Williams about what is known about today's tragedy.
