Fate of Ousted Officials Uncertain After Burkina Faso Coup
Less than a month before a general election that was expected to bring democracy to Burkina Faso, members of the presidential guard burst into a cabinet meeting and seized the interim president, the prime minister and at least two other officials. On Thursday, the military group calling itself the National Council for Democracy announced it has installed a new leader, a general allied with the ousted president Blaise Compaore.
