China: Zhao Lanjian

Zhao Lanjian is a Chinese citizen journalist who lives in exile near Washington. Zhao has been recognized for his work uncovering the identity of the “chained woman” — a woman who, according to a Chinese court, was trafficked in rural China, gave birth to eight children, and suffered horrific abuse, including being chained by the neck to a wall.
