A delegation from the Afghan political leadership met with Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad, Tuesday, August 17.

The delegation, including Speaker Wolesi Jirga Mir Rehman Rehmani and other leaders, are expected to be in Pakistan until Wednesday, August 18.

According to a statement released from the prime minister's office, Pakistan wanted to stress the need for peace and stability in Afghanistan.

The statement added that in the current situation, great responsibility rested on the Afghan leaders to work constructively together to lead Afghanistan toward peace, stability and development.

The prime minister underscored the importance of all sides working to secure an inclusive political solution.

Reaffirming Pakistan's commitment to a peaceful and stable Afghanistan, Khan highlighted Pakistan's steadfast support for efforts in this direction.
