Moroccans make up the largest migrant population in Spain, with around a million people of Moroccan origin currently living in the country. Some arrive illegally to find work; others are offered seasonal jobs through official work programs in sectors like agriculture. However, as Henry Ridgwell and Alfonso Beato report, in some cases, the workers’ expectations are far from the reality they face in the fruit fields of southern Spain.
