In part three of our series on Ukraine’s battle zones, VOA travels to the formerly occupied city of Lyman, a strategic crossroad known locally as “Gates of Donbas.” Not far from towns that have been reduced to rubble, residents of the once-thriving city now sleep in the basements of abandoned factories and rail yards.
