World Health Organization’s Global Effort to Help Bridge the Vaccination Gap in Africa
In a recent United Nations article, it was stated that only 11 percent of Africa’s population is fully vaccinated, and the vaccination rate would need to increase by six times if the continent is to meet the 70 percent target set for 2022. VOA’s Amina Aliyu alongside her Our Voices’ co-hosts Auriane Itangishaka, Simegnish Yekoye and Ndimyake Mwakalyelye, spoke to Dr. Ayoade Alakija, World Health Organization’s Special Envoy for ACT Accelerator about vaccine distribution in Africa. Dr. Alakija shares her expectations for vaccine equity on the continent and how governments can better rollout vaccines.
