According to J.P. Morgan Wealth Management, an investment bank in the U.S., Black women are the fastest growing demographic of entrepreneurs with nearly 2.7 million businesses nationwide. From 2014-2019 it was reported that the number of women-owned businesses by African American women grew 50%, despite the disproportionate financial headwinds that women face. Aneeta Pearson, founder and CEO of 4 All Coils, a natural hair extension company, started her business in efforts to help black women find hair extensions that match their Type 4 hair. She spoke to VOA’s Auriane Itangishaka about her personal experience and her decision to create her brand which offers toxic-free products to her customers. Aneeta also shares the difficulties she faced during the process of becoming an entrepreneur in the natural hair community.
